Erik Williams has the privilege of serving Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit as the Director of Youth and Family Ministries. His focus is on the planning, implementation, and continued use of Christ focused programming that will be used as tools in an active faith life of the youth at Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit.
Erik is a 4th Generation Colorado Native who grew up in Colorado. He moved to Illinois, because of his father’s job, where he graduated high school from Waubonsie Valley High School. He then attended Luther College for two years. The call to come home to Colorado was just too strong and after transferring, he received his B.A. in History and Sociology from the University of Northern Colorado (GO BEARS!)
Erik has worked with youth nearly his entire life. In high school Erik was the only teenage Sunday school teacher at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Naperville IL. Every summer between 2004 and 2008 Erik worked at Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp as a camp hand, counselor, and backpack guide. Erik says that Rainbow Trail is responsible for his ability to create Christ focused programming while being able to keep the activities enjoyable and active.
Erik is a self-proclaimed super nerd because of his love for Star Wars, Xbox, and rapping in his basement. Erik is married to Kelly Anne Williams, whom he met at Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp when she was the Program Director during the summer of 2005. Kelly is one of the few people who have worked at Rainbow Trail longer than Erik. She is extremely excited to start helping with youth activities and dive into the faith lives of Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit. Erik and Kelly have one son, Jacob Michael.
Erik, Kelly, Jacob, and Bear (their Shepherd-Lab-Husky mix) love hiking, camping, bike riding (which is funny to watch a dog ride a bike), and just being outside, especially at their cabin in Sargents, Colorado. Yet most of all, Erik loves spending time with friends, family, and the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit family of which he and Kelly are now a part.
